The Thanlwin Bridge (Pasawng), located near Pasawng in Mese Township, Kayah State, was damaged in a mine attack carried out yesterday morning by KNPP, KNDF groups and PDF terrorists, according to reports.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:20 am on the western side of Pasawng, about 320 metres from the town, between mileposts 0/3 and 0/4 on the Pasawng-Mese-BP 13 Road. The bridge, an iron-reinforced concrete structure measuring 1,260 feet in length and 24 feet in width, serves as a key public crossing for residents and the flow of goods.

Due to the explosion, a section of the bridge near the western abutment, measuring 250 feet in length and 24 feet in width, collapsed and sustained severe damage. No casualties or injuries were reported.

The attack caused significant disruption to local transport, and at present, neither pedestrians nor vehicles can pass through the crossing. The relevant road and bridge authorities have stated that repair works will be carried out as swiftly as possible.

Security personnel have intensified measures to ensure stability and safety in the surrounding area.
