​​​​​​​THE State Administration Council has appointed U Naing Myo Han, General Manager (Production) of the No 2 Mining Enterprise under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, as Managing Director of the same department on probation from the date he assumes charge of his duties.

CHAIRMAN of the State Administration Council Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar appointed U Kyaw Soe Moe, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 7 May 2024.

A special appeal tribunal consisting of Chief Justice of the Union U Thar Htay and Judges of the Supreme Court of the Union U Kyi Thein, U Thaung Naing, U Thein Ko Ko and Daw Thin Thin Nwet was convened Monday morning at the Supreme Court of the Union and heard two special criminal appeal cases — Nos 1/2024 (Mandalay) and 2/2024 (Bago), and five special civil appeal cases – Nos 41/2023 (Sagaing), 2/2024 (Yangon), 8/2024(Kachin), 13/2024 (Yangon) and 15/2024 (Mandalay).

1. On the occasion of the Myanmar New Year, the 9th Waxing of Tagu 1386 ME (17 April 2024), the Chairman of the State Administration Council aiming to bring about peace of mind to the public and social consideration and seeking to foster the affection and goodwill of the State, issued State Administration Council Order No 29/2024, which granted remission of one-sixth of the remaining sentences to be served under Section 401 (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure except specified offences for prisoners incarcerated in respective prisons, jails, and camps under existing laws. According to Order No 30/2024, a total of 3,303 prisoners serving sentences in respective prisons, jails, and camps were conditionally pardoned under Article 401 (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
