Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, selected as Vice-President by the group of elected Pyithu Hluttaw representatives, was elected as President by the Presidential Electoral College comprising all Pyidaungsu Hluttaw representatives at the presidential election on 3 April 2026. During the celebrations, entertainment programmes, including performances of Thingyan songs, will be presented by Union-level organizations, ministries, state and regional governments, and relevant departments.

The Royal Thai Navy warship HTMS Kraburi (FFG-457), on a goodwill visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, departed from Thilawa Port, Yangon, yesterday evening. The vessel was seen off by senior officers, personnel from the Tatmadaw (Navy), and the Royal Thai Naval Attaché to Myanmar.
