KNPP and PDF terrorists attacked in an inhumane way with heavy weapons from about 4,000 metres northeast of Loikaw at around 7:15 am on 15 January at the opening ceremony of the archway to commemorate 71st Anniversary of Kayah State Day with participation of local ethnic people. The heavy weapon shells fell near the State Hall and in the residential areas. Some members of the security forces, six students, one male and one female innocent people were injured and one male innocent civilian was killed.

STATE Administration Council Members Saw Daniel, U Sai Lon Seng, U Shwe Kyein, Union Ministers Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin, Eastern Command Commander Maj-Gen Hla Moe, Deputy Ministers Dr Aung Zeya and Dr Aye Tun and officials opened the 400-metre synthetic running track and fitness training gymnasium at the state stadium in Loikaw yesterday to commemorate the 71st Kayah State Day which takes place on 15 January.
