A coordination meeting on closing a camp of the internally displaced persons-IDPs in Kyaukpyu was held at the Rakhine State Government Office in Sittway on 21st January.
The Kyauktalon Camp will be closed in accordance with the IDP camps closure National Strategy which will ensure all displaced people at IDP camps return home safely and with dignity and rebuild their life without depending on others, said Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye in his opening remarks at the meeting.

It was attended by Chairman of Tatmadaw True News Team Maj-Gen Soe Naing Oo, Vice Chairman Maj-Gen Tun Tun Nyi, Secretary Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).

THE Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population and the Thales, a French multinational company, jointly organized an e-ID and e-passport workshop yesterday at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw.
Speaking at the workshop, Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe said his ministry, after forming a working committee, is implementing an e-ID system which would collect the biometric data of people in Myanmar and add them to a database after individual data are assigned Unique Identity (UID) numbers and registered.

COMMANDER-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Colonel Khamlek Sengphachanh, Chief of Lao Air Force, at Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday evening.

Mandalay Electricity Supply Corporation, Electricity Supply Enterprise, Ministry of Electricity and Energy, and Hitachi Soe Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. (HISEM), a tender winner for the National Electrification Project (NEP) Phase-II, signed a contract at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Win Khaing said the first phase of the National Electrification Project (NEP) was begun after a loan of US$ 310 million was received from World Bank.

The Union Election Commission jointly organized a workshop with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) on the prevention of hate speech, fake news and misleading information.
Chairman of UEC U Hla Thein made an opening remark on the workshop, saying the important role of social media in modern communications, its advantages and challenges including hate speech, fake news and wrong information.
He remarked on the needs for prevention of these problems in the country where the social media users have amounted to 21 million in 2020, compared with 7 million in 2015.
