Commander – in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo received Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army Maj-Gen Vanhthong Boudtavong at Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

At the meeting, they frankly discussed the further promotion of friendly relations and cooperation between Myanmar and Laos and the two armed forces, the improvement of diplomatic and military relations between the two countries, and the close cooperation in regional development.

Their discussions covered the exchange of goodwill visits, cultural troupes, sports teams and trainees between the two armed forces, the promotion of security, peace and stability in border regions including the Mekong river security, the gratitude to Laos for its humanitarian aid and rescue teams sent to Myanmar in the occurrence of the Mandalay earthquake on 28 March 2025, the five principles of peaceful coexistence exercised by Myanmar with neighbouring countries, and upholding Our Three Main National Courses by the Tatmadaw under the leadership of the government.

They exchanged commemorative gifts and had documentary photos taken together with the attendees.

Also present at the meeting were Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Htein Win and senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief. The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army was accompanied by Deputy Director Col Mixay Phengsavath of the International Relations Department of the Lao People’s Army, Lao military attaché to Myanmar Col Viphaxay Chanthamath and officials.
