Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi received Dr Md Monwar Hossain, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Myanmar, yesterday at the Pyithu Hluttaw Guest Hall in the Hluttaw Building in Nay Pyi Taw.
The Speaker noted that, following the election, the three major pillars of governance have emerged and that the Hluttaw is actively carrying out its legislative responsibilities to support national development, improve the socioeconomic well-being of the people, and enact laws suited to contemporary needs, adding that the Anti-Online Scam Bill is currently under discussion in the Hluttaw and expressing his hope that the Ambassador would help promote communication and cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
The Bangladeshi ambassador enquired about the formation of Myanmar’s Hluttaws and election-related matters, explained the current structure of the Bangladeshi Parliament, and raised questions concerning immigration-related issues.
Also present at the meeting were Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn, officials from the Office of the Pyithu Hluttaw, and officials from the Embassy of Bangladesh to Myanmar.
