Under the directives of the Head of State to expedite rehabilitation work in Falam, Tiddim and Tonzang townships in Chin State, which have been fully retaken by the Tatmadaw, the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee, chaired by Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Than Soe and comprising officials from relevant sectors, conducted field visits to the affected areas and carried out rehabilitation activities.
To ensure that residents, government staff and their family members returning to Falam, Tedim and Tonzang townships do not face food shortages, the National Disaster Management Committee initially provided 10 tonnes of cooking oil, 50 tonnes of rice, cement, roofing sheets and other materials required for rehabilitation work.
Military aircraft have been transporting roofing materials and other supplies to support the reconstruction effort. Yesterday, military aircraft transported 10 tonnes of CI sheets, 5.5 tonnes of cement, 123 visses of nails and one package of rubber washers from Mandalay to Kalay. Distribution to the respective townships is ongoing, and additional supplies are being provided according to local requirements. According to a press release issued by the National Disaster Management Committee, assistance delivered from the National Disaster Management Fund between 24 May and 9 June 2026 included K3 billion in financial support, 10 tonnes of edible oil, 50 tonnes of rice, 600 households and personal-use items, 20 tonnes of cement, 20 tonnes of CI sheets, 246 visses of Iron nails and related materials.
