PRESIDENT of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing who is currently in Mumbai, India, on an official visit, held a meeting with Maharashtra State Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Verma yesterday afternoon.
Arriving at the Maharashtra Lok Bhavan, Mumbai (Governor’s House), the President and the Myanmar delegation were cordially welcomed by the governor.
The President and the Governor of Maharashtra State held a meeting. It was also attended by Union ministers and party, and the Myanmar Ambassador to India. The Governor of Maharashtra State was accompanied by state ministers, the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar and officials.
At the meeting, they openly discussed the good relations along the history as the two countries are good neighbours, the progress of friendly ties and cooperation, bilateral relations between the peoples of both countries, efforts of the high-level Myanmar delegation to further promote trade and investment between Myanmar and India, gratitude expressed by the Myanmar government and the people to India for its good neighbourly assistance when Myanmar faced natural disasters, and promotion of multi-sector cooperation between the two countries.
After the meeting, the President and the Governor had documentary photos taken together with the attendees. When the President and party arrived at the venue where the Governor would host a dinner in their honour, the state band played the national anthems of both countries.
The Governor of Maharashtra introduced his entourage to the President, who also presented his entourage.
The Governor hosted the dinner for the President and high-level Myanmar delegation members. During the dinner, the state band played songs from both countries.
After the dinner, the President signed the guest’s book of Maharashtra Lok Bhavan Mumbai (Governor’s House). The President and party enjoyed music entertainment of the state band. The President and the Governor presented cash awards and cordially greeted them.
