1. On 30 April 2026, on the auspicious occasion of the Full Moon Day of Kason (Buddha Day) 1388 ME, and with due regard to the peace of mind of the people, humanitarian consideration, and to foster understanding of the State’s kindness and goodwill, as well as to enable participation in the nation-building process, and in consideration of friendly relations between nations, the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, by Order 50/2026 on Remission of Sentence, has remitted one-sixth of the remaining prison sentences of the prisoners, and by Order 51/2026 on Amnesty, has granted amnesty to 1,508 prisoners by reducing their remaining sentences under specified conditions, and furthermore, by Order 52/2026 on Amnesty, has granted amnesty to 11 foreign prisoners by reducing their remaining sentences under specified conditions and deporting them.
2. Such grants of remission of sentence and amnesty will contribute to the peace processes and the development of the nation’s human resources, and granting amnesty to foreign prisoners and deporting them will promote peaceful coexistence among nations.
3. The Myanmar National Human Rights Commission warmly welcomes the Order on Remission of Sentence and the Orders on Amnesty, expressing joy as do those who have received remission of sentence or amnesty and their family members, and strongly urges them to be able to participate wholeheartedly in the State’s development processes.
