A Myanmar delegation, led by the Union Chief Justice, U Tha Htay, attended the 12th Meeting of the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices in Singapore, from 13 to 15 November 2025, at the invitation of the Chief Justice of Singapore, The Hon Sundaresh Menon.
The meeting was attended by Chief Justices and Heads of Judiciaries from ASEAN member states.
The Union Chief Justice attended the 12th Meeting of the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices at the Supreme Court of Singapore on 15 November. At the opening session, he delivered a speech alongside other ASEAN Chief Justices, heads of delegation, and the ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General.
Then CACJ Working Groups on the ASEAN Judiciaries Portal, Civil Proceedings, Case Management and Court Technology, Judicial Training and Education, Cross-border Disputes Involving Children, Conduct of Video Conferencing Hearings, ASEAN + Meetings and the Climate Justice presented their reports regarding the activities carried out, the achievements gained and the working plan to be continued and obtain formal approval. During the meeting, the Union Chief Justice discussed matters relating to the Myanmar judiciary.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chief Justices and the Heads of Delegation signed the Singapore Declaration, as the result of the 12th CACJ Meeting.
The Union Chief Justice attended a series of sideline meetings and seminars held alongside the 12th CACJ Meeting. On 13 November, the Union Chief Justice attended the SICC-SAL Seminar on International Disputes, co-organized by the Singapore International Commercial Court and the Singapore Academy of Law. On 14 November, the Myanmar delegation’s engagements included the ASEAN Insolvency Judges Meeting, a Seminar on the Transnational Practice of Law in ASEAN, the ASEAN Insolvency Judges and Practitioners Meeting, and the ASEAN Intellectual Property (IP) Judges and Practitioners Meeting. The delegation actively contributed to discussions throughout these events.
