Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently in Chengdu, Sichuan Province of the People’s Republic of China during his working visit, held a meeting with Mr Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China at the Jin Jiang Hotel at 6 pm Chinese standard time yesterday.

At the meeting, they cordially discussed the improvement of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and measures to promote trade and cooperation between Sichuan Province and Myanmar.

They also frankly exchanged views on sending of aid teams by Sichuan Province to Myanmar at a time when the devastating Mandalay earthquake caused loss and damage, and cooperation in agriculture, livestock and industrial sectors between Sichuan Province and Myanmar.

Also, present at the meeting were Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Commission members, Union ministers and the Myanmar Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.

The Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee was accompanied by cabinet members of Sichuan Province, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms Ma Jia and officials.

After the meeting, the Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China hosted a dinner in honour of the high-level Myanmar delegation led by the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
