The Industry and Industrial Zone Development Central Committee organized a briefing on ongoing work plans to be carried out as per the stipulations provided by the Industrial Zone Law and Rule at the Aye Thaya Industrial Zone Management Committee office in Taunggyi, Shan State, on 12 July.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister for Industry U Yin Maung Nyunt, who is also secretary of the central committee, said there are 28 industrial zones and five industrial wards, while two zones are being established locally. Among the established industrial zones, there are 8,035 micro, medium and large enterprises (MSME) which create 556,009 jobs for residents.
He continued that the Industrial Zone Law was enacted in 2020, and the Industrial Zone Rule was enacted in 2024.
He highlighted the role of local industrial zones in promoting export volume and producing import-substitute products of the country, and supervision to ensure systematic development of the industrial zones as per the law.
The Shan State economic minister reported on industrial development activities in the state. The deputy minister and the party viewed the displayed MSME products.
The relevant officials of the department concerned participated in the discussion, and attendees raised questions regarding the Industrial Zone Law and Rule.
