THE Myanmar delegation consisting of Myanmar Minister to Singapore/charge d’affaires ad interim U Zaw Zaw Soe, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information U Myint Kyaw, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs U Man Hauk Thang and Chairman of the Myanmar Press Council U Ohn Maung (aka) Myinmu Maung Naing Moe attended the meeting between the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights and the European Union regarding disinformation and misinformation held at JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La in Singapore yesterday.

At the meeting, Minister of Communications and Information of Singapore Mr Tan Kiat How gave an opening speech, and Singaporean in-charge to AICHR Dr Shashi Jayakumar and EU Ambassador to ASEAN Mr Sujiro Seam extended words of greeting.

The discussion was divided into four parts, and officials discussed the impacts of misinformation and disinformation on society, approaches to handle and control fake news, challenges and ways to solve the difficulties due to the fake news in Southeast Asian countries and European countries, different perspectives in combatting fake news through various means and disseminating of accurate information to be done not only by the individual country but also every country of the region and the world in the future.
