Vice President and National Tourism Development Central Committee Chairman U Henry Van Thio arrived at the viewpoint of Tikir Village in Thantlang Township and observed the ongoing works for development of the village and environmental greening yesterday morning. He was accompanied by Union Ministers Dr. Myo Thein Gyi and U Ohn Maung, Chief Minister of Chin State Salai Lian Luai, Deputy Ministers Maj-Gen Than Htut, U Kyaw Myo and U Myint Kyaing, Chin State ministers and officials.
The Vice President and party then inspected the construction of 13 miles and four furlongs long Tikir-Kyerian Mountain earth road. At the site where the Kyerian Mountain national park will be established Deputy Director-General of Forest Department U Zaw Min reported on natural flora species of the area, resident mammal and bird species, the projected area of the national park, type of forest and salient points of the park.
In response, the Vice President instructed the scheduling of a trekking route from the foot to the crest of Kyerian Mountain, systematic collection and studying of the detailed facts of the park, and raising of mythun (Gayal) (a kind of cattle with long horns) as the surrounding area of the park has a lot of grazing grounds for the bovines.
Later, the Vice President and party posed for documentary photos with the Kyerian Mountain as a backdrop.
Located near Tikir Village in Thantlang Township, the 7,458.5-acre Kyerian Mountain National Park is made up of mountain evergreen forest, pine forest and savanna-like areas. The park is a natural habitat of 92 tree species, 37 mammal species and 64 bird species, according to the first field survey.
During inspection of the Basic Education High School of Tikir Village, the Vice President encouraged the students learning lessons in classrooms and pursuing practical computer studies at the computer room and took documentary photos together with teachers.
After this, the Vice President and party left Tikir Village by helicopter and arrived at Thantlang where they inspected the preparations for holding the 72nd Anniversary Chin National Day and opening of booths there.
On arrival at the Government Technical High School (Thantlang) Project, the Vice President heard a report on the progress in building the lecture halls, workshop, hostels and staff quarters, budget allotment, extension of school compound, and employment opportunities for local students who have finished their studies at Government Technical High School (Haka). Union Minister Dr. Myo Thein Gyi also gave a supplementary report.
The Vice President made arrangements for work facilitation.
At the water collection tank installation project of Ward 3 in Thantlang, the Vice President looked into the requirements in building the tank for ensuring sufficient potable water supply to Thantlang, and observed the water intake.
If per capita water consumption is fixed at 25 gallons, Thantlang with over ten thousand residents will need over 260,000 gallons of water daily. Water which comes from 11 springs is stored in collection tanks to provide the town with over 100,000 gallons daily. After 216,000 gallons of water produced by Kwava Spring can be piped to the town, it will receive a daily supply of 320,000 gallons, which is sufficient for its residents.
At Thantlang view point, the Vice President enjoyed the scenery and posed for documentary photos.
During his inspection of Thantlang People’s Hospital (50 beds), the Vice president inspected the construction of a two-storey lab and visited the patients.
