KNPP and PDF terrorists attacked in an inhumane way with heavy weapons from about 4,000 metres northeast of Loikaw at around 7:15 am on 15 January at the opening ceremony of the archway to commemorate 71st Anniversary of Kayah State Day with participation of local ethnic people. The heavy weapon shells fell near the State Hall and in the residential areas. Some members of the security forces, six students, one male and one female innocent people were injured and one male innocent civilian was killed.

MYANMAR plans to export a total of 200,000 tonnes of rice to Bangladesh under a G-to-G agreement. A total of 30,000-tonne rice shipment was directly made by the Ayeyawady International Industrial Port (AIIP) in Pathein of Ayeyawady Region starting 2 November and the last ship MCL7 ship left for Bangladesh on 13 January. A total of 30,000 tonnes of direct rice export from Pathein to Bangladesh is the very first for the country and the direct shipment can save the transport charges for the companies and also crate business potentials and job opportunities to local rice millers.
