THE Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the appointment of Mr Md Monwar Hossain as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in succession to Mr Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury.

Mr Md Monwar Hossain born in Rajshahi on 10 March 1970 earned his degree in medicine from the Chittagong Medical College, Bangladesh in 1996, a Master of Science in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the University of London in 2005 and PhD in Public Health Communication from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2017.

He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh in 2001 and served as Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh from May 2001 to May 2005, as Second Secretary/ First Secretary at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Washington DC from August 2006 to May 2008, First Secretary/ Counsellor at the Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore from June 2009 to July 2011 as well as Director-General at the Headquarters in Dhaka from June 2016 to November 2017.

Mr Md Monwar Hossain has been serving as Deputy Permanent Representative/Minister at the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York since November 2017.

He is married and has a son.
