UNDER the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade in accordance with the law.

On 5 February, the Customs Department officials inspected two containers of goods imported from China and seized various types of consumer goods that were not listed in the import declaration ID (estimated value K91.4 million) at Myanmar Industrial Port Container Inspection Station and action is being taken in accordance with the customs law.

Similarly, a customs team on duty at the Mayangchaung Permanent Checkpoint, Mon State inspected a vehicle and seized various undocumented consumer goods (estimated at K5.63 million) in one vehicle, and took action in accordance with customs law.

A patrol team led by the Customs Department at the Yepu Permanent Chefkpoint, Shan State seized one unlicensed vehicle (valued at approximately K5 million) near Yepu village and action is being taken in accordance with the customs law.

In addition, under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, officials seized illegal Chinese-made food items (estimated value K552,000) from one vehicle at Chinshwehaw Trade Camp, Shan State, and action is being taken in accordance with the customs law.

Moreover, inspections were carried out by combined inspection teams led by the Forest Department of Bago Region and a total of 43.2024 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated value K8,579,860) in Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady districts was seized and action is being taken in accordance with the forest law.

Therefore, a total of six arrests were made on 5 and 6 February. The estimated value of the seized items is K111,161,860, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
