THE opening ceremony of the Essential Culinary Skills Training (Japanese Foods) jointly organized by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and the TRC Hotel and Vocational Training Institute with the support of the ASEAN-Japan Centre, was held online on 21 January.

At the opening ceremony, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung said that the trainees who are going to attend the basic Japanese food cooking course need to study with special interest.

“We will be able to attract more Japanese tourists by using our skills effectively and providing good services to Japanese tourists.

“As Japanese tourists are among the majority of visitors to Myanmar, this course is not only for Japanese tourists but also for hotels and resorts in Myanmar,” the Union minister added.

He said it was a beneficial course for restaurants and those who want to cook and sell Japanese food.

Afterwards, Mr Kunihiko Hirabayashi, Secretary General of ASEAN-Japan Center gave a speech and U Kyaw Kyaw Sint, Managing Director of TRC Hotel and Vocational Training Institute, explained the training programme.

 A total of 20 trainees will attend the course. The course will be conducted three days per week for four weeks.

 Afterwards, the Union minister and the Secretary-General of the ASEAN-Japan Centre discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation for the development of tourism in Myanmar.

They also discussed food production, support for basic cooking courses as well as services and advanced training plus obtaining technical assistance from Japan for the development of eco-tourism and digital marketing in Myanmar.
