THE flag meeting of battalion commander level was held at the border checkpoint near the Friendship Bridge in Maungtaw Township, Rakhine State, yesterday morning.
Seven members of Myanmar delegations led by Police Lt-Col Zaw Lin Aung and the 10 members of Bangladeshi counterparts at the meeting.
Myanmar officials discussed erecting border post No. 65 and 66 in Myanmar territory, and surprise attacks of ARSA terrorists to Myanmar security forces.
The Myanmar delegation presented a video clip of 3 deaths and 6 injury of civilians, including children, in a landmine attack of ARSA to a civilian vehicle near Leikya village in Maungtaw Township on 17 November.
They also discussed joint measures of border guard forces against ARSA, exchange of information to prevent landmine attacks, and the arrest of nine Bangladesh citizens who illegally entered Myanmar by fishing boats. They were released together with the boats and personal belongings on humanitarian ground in accordance with the bilateral agreements.
The leader of Bangladeshi delegation expressed thanks for the transfer of their citizens and agreed for the best coordination in border security and stability measures, exchange of information about terrorist groups and their further reports on Myanmar delegation to their senior officials.
