The influx of visitors in the Bagan Ancient Cultural Heritage Zone has resulted in job development for some residents in Bagan-NyaungU Township.

In Bagan and NyaungU, people who make money from hiring ebikes and providing mini Oway service, horse carts, car rental service, restaurants, hand painting, Thanakha service and photo service, as well as local tour guides, have enjoyed more income.

Local tourist arrivals were distinctly large in Bagan during Christmas and the December holidays.

“Most visited tourist destinations in Bagan-NyaungU are Swetaw Thonezu (three Buddha tooth relic pagodas), Tantkyitaung Swetaw Pagoda, Maha Hngetpyittaung Pagoda, Htilominlo Pagoda, Ananda Temple, Mahabodhi Temple, Bupaya, Gawdawpalin Temple, Khayminga Pagoda compound, Thakyapone Pagoda, Shwe Latetu Pagoda, Thatbyinnyu Pagoda, Ngakywenadaung Pagoda, Pahtothamya Temple, Sinmyashin Temple, Manuha Temple, Dhammayazika Pagoda, Shin Izza Gawna Temple, Dhammayangyi Temple and Sulamuni Pagoda,” said a mini Oway driver.

In Bagan-NyaungU, the visitor arrival hasn’t stopped, even though it is not a festive season, and almost all hotels and guesthouses are now occupied by loads of December vacationers, with many day trippers and pilgrims.

During the Christmas holidays, the local visitor arrival has reached more than 200,000 at Bagan-NyaungU ancient cultural area in Mandalay Region’s NyaungU District, according to the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, Bagan Branch.
