Dr Soe Win, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, met yesterday afternoon with Mr Jaime Nadal Roig, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Myanmar, at the Ministry’s reception hall.

During the meeting, they discussed the UNFPA’s provision of Dignity Kits for earthquake-affected areas, the support provided by UNFPA to violence-affected women at the One-Stop Women Support Centres (OSWSCs), and the facilitation of entry visas for UNFPA international staff. They also exchanged views openly on extending and signing the work plan for joint activities between the Department of Social Welfare and UNFPA, focusing on gender equality and the empowerment of women.

The meeting was attended by the Director-General of the Department of Social Welfare, the Deputy Permanent Secretary, relevant departmental officers, and representatives from the UNFPA office.
