The Russian Rosatom and the Ministry of Science and Technology jointly organized the Science Festival Myanmar 2025 at Naypyitaw State Polytechnic University (NSPU) yesterday.

It was attended by Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Deputy Minister Dr Aung Zeya, Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Htein Lin, the Russian Ambassador to Myanmar and representatives and departmental officials, faculty members, students and invitees.

The video clips of 2023 and 2024 science festivals were screened, and the Union Minister made an opening speech, and Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr I K Azizov made a remark.

The Union minister and Russian representatives presented awards to the winners of Splitting Colour, cash prizes and presents to the dance troupes, and observed the painting exhibition and Project Shows of students.

The festival will be held on 24 and 25 November at the NSPU, featuring quiz competitions for nuclear technology for the basic education students, and prizes will be presented to the winners. It will also screen the Oliver Stone “Nuclear Now”, “ATOM Egypt ENG Master” and “The City Falls Asleep” documentaries, and a knowledge sharing session under the topic of “Nuclear Technology in Everyday Life”.

Organizing such a science festival broadens scientific knowledge and awareness, including nuclear science, among students from basic education levels up to university students, and young professionals serving in various sectors, fosters greater interest in science, inspires curiosity to explore new scientific fields, and strengthens the morale of young people in the education sector. Moreover, as nuclear-energy-related knowledge becomes more widespread within the country, it can significantly support national efforts aimed at developing the nation’s science and nuclear energy sectors.
