The opening ceremony of the 2025 MSME Tazaungdine Fair and Concert was held yesterday morning at People’s Square in Dagon Township, Yangon. The event was attended by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Yangon Region High Court Chief Justice Daw Sandar Thwe, regional ministers and departmental officials, officials from UMFCCI and sister organizations, representatives from various industrial zones, industrialists, MSME entrepreneurs, and ethnic groups.

In his remarks, Chief Minister U Soe Thein encouraged the public to enjoy the music performances in a relaxed and happy atmosphere while purchasing products at affordable prices. He also urged manufacturers and sellers to participate in the festival to create new and high-quality products for export, promoting healthy competition, and supporting the development of MSMEs in the country.

The Tazaungdine Fair and Concert was then formally opened by Yangon Region Development Minister U Bo Htay, Regional Economic Affairs Minister Myo Myint Aung, and the chairpersons of various industrial zones.

Cultural performances followed, including a Kayin traditional dance, a band performance, and a flower troupe performance, after which the Chief Minister and officials presented awards.

The chief minister and guests toured the shops and the solar energy product exhibition. The Yangon Region Tazaungdine Fair and Concert will run daily from 1 to 4 November, from 8 am to 10 pm. The market will feature more than 630 booths, including those of industrial zones, MSME entrepreneurs, the Department of Small and Medium Enterprises, the Department of Cooperative, the Department of Regional Investment and Company Administration, the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), the Myanmar Rice Federation, as well as shops selling regional products, bookstores to encourage reading among young students, and restaurants.

In addition, talk shows will be held to inform MSME entrepreneurs about government support programs, alongside performances by well-known artists from the film, theatre, and music industries. During the festival, visitors can also offer beautiful lamps to the Buddha, and enjoy hot-air balloon releases and fireworks displays on the full moon day and the eve of the festival.

The Yangon Region government has arranged for donors to provide charity meals to festival-goers and for YBS buses to facilitate transportation to and from the event.
