A delegation led by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi participated in the 20th Eco Expo Asia 2025, held at the Hong Kong Asia World-Expo from 28 to 30 October, at the invitation of Mr TSE Chin-wan, Secretary for Environment and Ecology of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government of the People’s Republic of China.

Yesterday, the opening ceremony of the Eco Expo Asia was held at the Hong Kong Asia World-Expo, with Mr TSE Chin-wan delivering the opening speech.

Then, Mr TSE Chin-wan, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi, and the heads of the participating countries opened the exhibition.

At the Eco Expo Asia Conference – Government Session 1, the Union minister stated that Myanmar, a country rich in biodiversity, forests, and natural resources, faces major environmental challenges similar to other Asian nations, and to address these, it has formulated and implemented strong policies, strategies, and action plans, such as the 2021 “National Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Action Plan (NDCs)” under the Paris Agreement and the ongoing “NDC 3.0”, to promote ecosystem-based and nature-based solutions, establish permanent forest areas, nature reserves, and forest plantations, reduce carbon emissions by 2030, and advance green development through public participation for sustainable development.

The Union minister highlighted that Myanmar has developed a green economy policy framework to promote low-carbon and responsible investments that prioritize the efficient use of natural resources, implemented the Myanmar National Waste Management Strategy and Master Plan (2018–2030) and the Myanmar National Plastics Management Action Plan (2026–2035) to address plastic pollution, and stands ready to further accelerate its environmental conservation efforts in collaboration with regional and international partners to address shared environmental challenges.

The Union minister, accompanied by guests and diplomats, visited exhibitions on green projects, eco-friendly products, air quality purification, waste recycling and energy production, agricultural waste-based energy production, green building development, and green transportation, including electric vehicles, hybrid electric and gas vehicles, and hydrogen fuel vehicles.

They also attended a technical seminar on Hong Kong’s strategy and work towards climate resilience, green investments, carbon neutrality and circular economy development, green building development and energy conservation, carbon market development and hydrogen-based transport sector development, and waste-to-energy production and utilization.
