Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win received Mr Evgeny Grigoryev, Member of the Government of the Russian Federation and Chair of the Saint Petersburg Committee for External Relations, and his delegation yesterday afternoon at the Ministry of Health in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, they discussed enhancing cooperation in the health sector between Myanmar and Russia, the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the Napalkov Cancer Centre in Saint Petersburg following the signing of a memorandum of understanding in 2024, and the exchange of expertise in cancer treatment. They also discussed the importation and distribution in Myanmar of medicines and medical supplies for cancer and diabetes produced by pharmaceutical factories in Saint Petersburg, the possibility of sending Myanmar specialists to Russia for advanced training, cooperation between medical universities in both countries to strengthen human resource development in the health sector, and the treatment of neurological and infectious diseases among children.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chair of the Saint Petersburg Committee for External Relations, the Russian Ambassador to Myanmar and relevant officials, representatives from the Russian Trade Mission to Myanmar, and officials from the Ministry of Health.
