Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Chinese Special Envoy Mr Deng Xijiun held talks about further promotion of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a delegation led by Mr Deng Xijiun, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, at the Tatmadaw Guest House in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
At the meeting, they frankly exchanged views on plans to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement-NCA, participation of international witnesses, including China, in signing the NCA, and emphasis placed by China on the internal peace and development of Myanmar and on the sovereignty of Myanmar.
They also discussed the enhancement of friendship and strategic relations between Myanmar and China, sharing a good future as good neighbours, preparations to hold a free and fair election in Myanmar in the coming December, and support of China for holding the election.
Their discussions also focused on arrangements being made to use the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine for voters to cast votes to hold a free and fair election, and an invitation was extended to international election observation teams, including China, to the process of holding the election.
Moreover, they talked about the issue of cooperation in ensuring peace and stability in the border regions between the two countries, and further promotion of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
After the meeting, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar showcased the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) to the Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. Officials explained the work processes of the machine and replied to questions raised by the Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
Also, present at the meeting were Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Commission member Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and Lt-Gen Ko Ko Oo from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was accompanied by his delegation members.
