Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, held a meeting with Mr Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the Presidential Palace in Kazakhstan yesterday afternoon.
On arrival at the Presidential Palace, Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, was welcomed by the Guard of Honour and warmly welcomed by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan said that the Republic of Kazakhstan warmly welcomed the delegation led by the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. He noted that the Senior General is the first leader from Myanmar to visit Kazakhstan. He stated that he had learned that Myanmar holds a strategically important position in terms of history, culture, and geography. He added that they are ready to cooperate with Myanmar in economic matters. Myanmar is a country located in the southern part of Southeast Asia. From Kazakhstan’s perspective, looking towards Russia, Myanmar is a country with the potential to serve as an optimal logistics hub. He expressed confidence that if the two countries engage in economic cooperation, it would not only benefit relations with Russia but also open opportunities for cooperation with Southeast Asian nations.
The Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar expressed thanks for the warm welcome to the delegation he led, with better hospitality. During the visit to Kazakhstan, he expressed delight at witnessing the country’s development and beauty. He stated that his visit aimed to promote relations and cooperation between the two countries and to exchange views. He believed that such meetings and discussions would serve as a driving force to further enhance bilateral relations and put cooperation into practical implementation. Although geographically distant, he emphasized that the two nations are bound by friendship and goodwill, and therefore, efforts will be made to expand close cooperation in multiple sectors for mutual benefit.
They exchanged views on promotion of cooperation in multiple sectors, including trade, agriculture and livestock, cargo transport, oil, natural gas and mining sectors, and political progress in Myanmar.
Also present at the meeting held at the Presidential Palace together with the Senior General were Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Commission Member and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Union Ministers U Nyan Tun and U Ko Ko Lwin, Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Thit Linn Ohn and officials. The President of Kazakhstan was accompanied by Mr Kosherbayev Yermek Bedelbayevich, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, and leaders of the government.
The high-level Myanmar delegation led by the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar attended the luncheon hosted by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the luncheon, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan exchanged views on bilateral friendship and promotion of cooperation.
The Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and party were seen off warmly by the President of Kazakhstan, who accompanied them to the motorcade upon their departure from the Presidential Palace.
