Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently in the Russian Federation during his working visit, yesterday morning held a meeting with Director-General Mr Alexey Likhachev of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM of the Russian Federation.
They discussed perspectives on convening the “World Atomic Week Forum”, and the prospects for continuing to implement agreements between Myanmar and ROSATOM on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Moreover, they talked about the implementation of the national nuclear infrastructure for its development, and the improvement of the nuclear technology in Myanmar.
Both sides cordially focused on cooperation in training and skill improvement to enhance the human resources, and cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
After the meeting, Director-General Mr Alexey Likhachev of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM of the Russian Federation and Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw and Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun signed the agreements on cooperation between the ROSATOM and the two ministries in the presence of the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Also, present at the meeting were Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Commission Member and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Union Ministers U Nyan Tun, U Ko Ko Lwin and Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, ROSATOM Deputy Director-General Mr Nikolay Spasskiy and officials.
