Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently in the Russian Federation during his working visit, yesterday morning held talks with Director-General Mr Dmitry V Bakanov of the State Space Corporation “Roscosmos” of the Russian Federation at the head office of Roscosmos.

On arrival at the head office of Roscosmos, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and party were warmly welcomed by the Roscosmos Director-General and officials. The Senior General and party observed a scale model of a satellite to be launched to the space and visited the control room, which directly connects with satellites in orbit. The Senior General responded to the clarification of the Director-General of the State Space Corporation “Roscosmos” and officials.

At the meeting hall, the Senior General and the Director-General of the State Space Corporation “Roscosmos” held a meeting.

They frankly exchanged views on the promotion of cooperation in the peaceful use and exploration of space technology between Myanmar and the Russian Federation.

Moreover, they discussed matters related to the development of human resources in space technology and cooperation between the two countries in the peaceful exploration and use of outer space.

Furthermore, they cordially talked about measures to launch the satellite to enhance the interests of Myanmar and the people, and sending scholarship students related to space technology.

After the talks, Director-General of State Space Corporation ‘Roscosmos’ Mr Dmitry V Bakanov and Executive Chief of Myanmar Space Agency Dr Soe Myint Maung signed the agreements on cooperation in the outer space exploration and usage field for the peaceful purpose between governments of Myanmar and Russian in the presence of the Senior General.

Also, present at the meeting were Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Commission Member and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Thit Linn Ohn and officials. The Roscosmos Director-General was accompanied by the Deputy Director-General of the International Cooperation of the Roscosmos and officials.
