The Myanmar delegation, led by Union Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr Kan Zaw, attended the First World Public Assembly on New World of Conscious Unity, which was held on 20-21 September in the Russian Federation to mark the International Day of Peace.

At noon on 20 September, the Union minister attended the opening ceremony of the assembly and remarked.

He met Mr Andrey Belyaninov, Secretary-General of the World Peoples Assembly, and exchanged gifts.

On 21 September, the Union minister attended the Business Forum together with the representatives of Asia, Africa, the European Union, BRICS and SCO.

The Union minister discussed the topic of “From People Trust to Economic Trust (Humanitarian Foundations of Partnership)” at the forum.

During the panel session under the topic of “The Role of Business in Economic Integration amid Global Changes”, the BRICS member states and other countries discussed the important role of cooperation for economic growth and practical suggestions for economic cooperation.

In the evening, the Union minister attended the closing ceremony of the forum.

The forum brought together over 5,000 participants from over 150 countries.

The Union minister met with Mr Sholban Kara-Ool, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma at the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, on 22 September, and they discussed matters related to the Constitution, the election to be held in Myanmar and certain support of Russia for the successful holding of the election. He also visited the State Duma Hluttaw.

The Union minister, together with the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, visited the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) at the invitation of the vice-rector of the Russian Presidential Academy. He discussed the topic of Economic Development of Myanmar, and observed around the school buildings.

The Union minister-led delegation arrived back in Yangon on 23 September.
