Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn yesterday visited Mahazanaka Monastery in Tatkon, Nay Pyi Taw, where he inspected the ongoing renovation of the Dhamma Hall, which had been damaged by an earthquake, as well as the repair of concrete roads within the Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) compound. He also met MRTV staff during his visit.

At the Mahazanaka Monastery, the Union minister examined the repair and reinstallation of the façade and tiled walls of the damaged Dhamma Hall. He coordinated necessary arrangements, offered support, and presented donations of requisites to the monastery’s presiding abbot, the Township Ovadacariya, Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Bhaddanta Vandāraha.

Afterwards, he inspected the repair work on damaged sections of the concrete roads at MRTV, urging that the work be carried out in line with prescribed standards and completed within the designated timeframe.

Later, at the MRTV meeting hall, the Union minister met the international news translation team and newsreaders. He discussed key points to be observed in news reporting, provided necessary guidance, and presented cash awards.

In the afternoon, the Union minister met MRTV staff at the Auditorium. He urged them to serve the public with accurate and reliable news, to promptly verify and expose fake or false information, and to provide swift clarification with complete and correct facts. He also encouraged staff to cooperate with writers, filmmakers, performers, and musicians in promoting a happy and harmonious social life for the people. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for national media to make energetic and effective efforts before, during, and after the upcoming multiparty democratic general election, scheduled to begin on 28 December 2025, and concluded by warmly greeting the staff.
