Up till 9 September, the death toll rose to 3,817, with 5,104 injured and five people still missing in six regions and states of Myanmar that were severely affected by the powerful earthquake which struck on 28 March.
Members of the Myanmar Fire Services Department, along with local and international search and rescue teams, have been continuously conducting timely operations in affected areas. Up to now, 653 survivors have been rescued from collapsed buildings, and the bodies of 880 deceased individuals have been recovered.
The Government is continuing to carry out rehabilitation work with the support and donations of well-wishers and donors from both home and abroad.
