UNDER the supervision of the Steering Committee for the Prevention of Illegal Trade, special task forces have been formed to combat illegal trade in Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory, as well as in regions and states across the country. Additionally, One Stop Service teams led by the Customs Department have been established to enhance enforcement.

Operations are being effectively carried out at border entry and exit points, border trade offices and camps, permanent checkpoints, along trade routes, at warehouses, international ports and airports, and river ports. Reliable and timely information is considered vital in these efforts.

Thanks to tip-offs from responsible members of the public, a total of 46 reports were received in July 2025, of which four were false, two were delayed, and 40 were confirmed and resulted in seizures. These led to the opening of 85 cases involving a wide variety of items such as different types of timber, industrial goods, consumer products, and foodstuffs. The estimated value of the seized goods was K2,594.018 million, which also included vehicles used to transport illegal goods, both unregistered vehicles and motorcycles.

Those responsible citizens who provided accurate information in July will be awarded a total of K518.804 million, which represents 20 per cent of the estimated value of the seized items. The concerned departments are actively working to ensure that the rewards are granted promptly.

Therefore, responsible members of the public are encouraged to report information related to illegal trade via 09 404339969 and 067 409883, or email antiillegaltradeinfo@ gmail.com.
