YANGON Port will handle 55 container vessels in August 2026, the Myanma Port Authority announced.

Ten container vessels run by M/S Cosco Shipping Line, nine by M/S SITC ShippingLine, six by M/S One Line, five each by M/S Maersk A/S Line, M/S CMA CGM Line and M/S MSC Line, three each by M/S BLPL Shipping Line, M/S Evergreen Asia Line and M/S RCL Line, two each by M/S Samudra Shipping Line and M/S Ti2 Container Line and one by M/S Land and Sea and M/S BAY Line are scheduled to enter the Yangon Port in August.

The Myanma Port Authority (MPA) has expanded maritime trade channels to accommodate rising imports to meet domestic demand, boost exports and enhance port capacity to handle increased vessel arrivals. The MPA said it will promptly notify exporters and importers of any changes to vessel arrival schedules.

Yangon Port handled 55 container vessels in July, the same number as in June, compared with 57 in May, 53 in April, 59 in March, 60 each in February and January, and 63 in December 2025.

Following the discovery of the new Kings Bank Channel, providing access to the inner Yangon River, work to increase the navigational draft was accelerated, enabling the port to accommodate larger vessels. On 22 June, the Hong Kong-based SITC Shipping Line’s container vessel MV SITC Zhaoming (185.99 metres LOA, 35.25 metres beam, 29,232 GRT and a capacity of 2,698 TEUs) made its maiden call at the Asia World Port Terminal (AWPT), becoming the largest vessel ever handled by the terminal.
