The Myanmar-China Friendship Association (MCFA) presented relief supplies to earthquake-affected staff of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs at a ceremony held on 22 July in the multipurpose hall of the Sports Training Centre (Gold Camp) in Nay Pyi Taw.

The event was attended by the Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Deputy Ministers U Htein Lin and U Zin Min Htet, directors-general and officials, along with Mr Zhang Zhong Hua from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, Mr Wang Lei, Myanmar representative of the China Foundation for Peace and Development, Senior President of the Myanmar-China Friendship Association and Myanmar Wushu Federation Chair U Thitsa (aka) Mr Li BoBo, and ministry staff.

Mr Wang Lei first spoke about the donation, followed by Senior President U Thitsa (Mr Li BoBo), who outlined the association’s current and future support efforts. Officials from the Myanmar–China Friendship Association then handed the donated items to the Union Minister and deputy ministers, who in turn presented certificates of appreciation to the donors. Relief items were subsequently distributed to ministry personnel affected by the earthquake, and the Union Minister expressed his thanks for the support.

Later, the Union minister met Maj-Gen Hla Moe, President of the Myanmar National Paralympic Sports Federation, and federation officials at the ministry’s meeting hall in Nay Pyi Taw. The Union minister requested briefings on training camp arrangements, athlete preparedness, accommodations, medical care, competition readiness, and medal expectations for the 13th ASEAN Para Games.

Federation officials reported on planned events, athlete selection, current centralized training, health status and medical support, administrative and logistical needs, and targeted performance goals. The deputy ministers and relevant officials offered suggestions, after which the Union Minister discussed ways in which the ministry would provide further assistance.
