THOSE who want to establish a political party apply to the Union Election Commission by stating the name of the party they wish to establish. To date, 27 groups have applied for the right to establish a party, and among them, the Rakhine Nationalities Party was allowed to establish as they are in line with the Political Parties Registration Law and Rules yesterday.
The Rakhine Nationalities Party will have to apply to the Commission for registration as a political party, as per Rule 7 of the Registration of Political Parties, within 30 days from the date of approval. To date, 17 political parties have been approved.
Among these 17 political parties, the New Chinland Congress (NCC) led by U Bwar Saing Lo, applied to the Commission for registration as a political party under Rule 7 of the Registration of Political Parties within 30 days from the date of approval.
To date, 14 out of 16 political parties have been approved for registration, and the remaining groups that have applied for registration permits are also under scrutiny.
