Tatmadaw members, Myanmar Police Force members, foreign rescue squads and volunteers are ramping up concerted efforts in rescue and rehabilitation operations in the Mandalay earthquake-affected areas.
Lt-Gen Thet Pon from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) inspected the clearing of debris at the religious sites in Sagaing and maintenance work.
He also inspected the cleanliness activities in drains and debris in Sagaing, as well as the Sagaing iron furnace of Crown Prince Kanaung, constructed in June 1874. Additionally, he observed the water purification processes using Ayeyawady River water and other clearing activities at the 700th Anniversary Gymnasium in Parami Ward.
Lt-Gen Soe Tint Naing from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) also inspected the clearing of debris, demolition of buildings and safe transportation on the main road in Aungmyaythazan and Amarapura townships of Mandalay.
Lt-Gen Myo Thant Naing from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) attended the handover ceremony of rice to 20,733 quake survivors in Kyaukse Township and comforted the people.
He also inspected the clearing of debris at the religious sites in Kyaukse township, power distribution at Ingone sub-power station in Koebin village-tract, staff housing and warehouses, and provided foodstuffs to those involved in the working process.
He then observed the cleanliness of debris at the religious site in the Shwebontha monastery in Kume, Myittha Township, the opening of the temporary clinic with modular houses in the compound of the Byamapala social welfare organization, and the sale of construction materials in Kume.
