Efforts are being made to adopt AI, Water Flooding and Hydraulic Fracturing in the exploration of oil and gas in addition to the current methods in the energy sector, said Admiral Tin Aung San.

Chairman of the Electric Power and Energy Development Commission State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Admiral Tin Aung San delivered a speech at the Electric Power and Energy Development Commission’s 3/2025 meeting at the SAC Office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, the Admiral said preparations are underway to promptly launch new offshore projects in addition to the Standard Well system. The Ministry of Energy also conducted exploratory production in thin sand layers of oil and gas fields, the Aphyauk gas field and the Mabubin (south) field, and the daily production rate showed an increase.

The ministry also promoted cooperation with Academic institutions and the Oil and Gas industry to explore new oil and gas fields and sustainable human resources.

For the improvement of electricity and energy, local and foreign investments are invited, so it is important not to affect the government in signing the contracts. Moreover, the officials should conform in conformity with the current trend and guarantee the investors and supervised at different stages to prevent delays.

He then highlighted the need to draft the SPO for the import and installation processes of solar panels and related devices and to implement the operations as per the timeline, as the projects are key for the energy sector of the country.

He also urged officials to make efforts to upgrade Thanlyin Oil Refinery, oil and chemical plants, construct new plants, upgrade pipeline networks and expansions as per the project, and supervise the efficiency of machinery and equipment.

First Vice-Chairman Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun and Second Vice-Chairman Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin reported on ongoing electricity and energy development measures, renewable energy and ongoing work plans.

The Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, the region and state chief ministers and members of the commission discussed the development of the electric power and energy sectors.

After hearing the reports, the Admiral said in order to facilitate the easy selection and use of land required for the implementation of solar power electricity generation projects, if interested entrepreneurs and potential investors come to implement projects on suitable land areas available in regions and states, the necessary support and assistance will be provided.

He added that the hydropower projects will be implemented as mid-term and long-term projects, and special emphasis should be placed on technology and contracts with the veteran legal officers and technicians. The region and state chief ministers should manage proper measures to establish solar-powered plants in industrial, agricultural and livestock zones.

He finally highlighted the need to supervise the pipeline system and prevent efficiency decline, damage and losses due to prolonged use of machinery.
