As of 28 May, the death toll from the powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March has reached 3,739, with 5,104 people injured and 68 reported missing across six severely affected states and regions.
Search and rescue operations, coordinated by the Myanmar Fire Services Department and both domestic and international response teams, are ongoing in the hardest-hit areas. Rescue personnel have managed to save 653 survivors trapped under collapsed buildings, while 816 bodies have been recovered from the rubble.
Local donors continue to provide monetary and material aid to victims of the disaster. International support has also been forthcoming, with various countries, organizations, and philanthropic groups sending financial and humanitarian assistance.
On 26 May, a shipment of medical supplies donated by the Parami Group, a Vietnamese Buddhist organization, arrived at Yangon International Airport. The shipment weighed approximately 0.15 tonne.
All relief materials are being distributed as quickly as possible to those in need.
