Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Union ministers, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council and officials, yesterday afternoon inspected buildings of the Supreme Court of the Union and the Ministry of Labour damaged by the Mandalay earthquake.

The Senior General observed progress in the clearing of debris at the building of the Supreme Court of the Union, the removal of dangerous debris, damage to buildings, and the function of office work at the prefabricated offices in front of the office buildings and gave necessary guidance to officials.

He also inspected the functionality of office work being carried out at prefabricated offices of the Ministry of Labour without interruption of office work and relevant office rooms and provided guidance.

While walking along the circular road to the building of the Ministry of Labour, the Senior General inspected the loss and damage to the structures. The Union Minister for Construction reported on plans to repair the office building in phases under the examination of construction experts, systematically dissolving the dangerous buildings, and systematically constructing the retaining wall in the western part of the office.

In his response to the reports, the Senior General gave guidance, saying that the office buildings of the Supreme Court of the Union and the Ministry of Labour are included in the heavily damaged list due to the impacts of the Mandalay earthquake. He stressed the need to seek advice from earth and construction experts to construct buildings with earthquake resilience for long-term endurance, conduct soil tests and systematically build infrastructures with accurate calculations. He also urged them to swiftly carry out initial works and strive to complete the construction of office buildings within a set period.
