Myanmar Red Cross Society President Professor Dr Myo Nyunt and Mr Jagannath Chapagain, General Secretary of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), along with Executive Committee Member Professor Dr Tin Maung Hlaing, IFRC Myanmar Country Representative Ms Nadia Khoury, Chairpersons of the Red Cross Supervisory Committees in Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Directors of the Project Management Unit and the Disaster Management Department and other responsible officials visited earthquake victims in Sagaing on 9 May.
They distributed relief items to those sheltering at the Hindu temple in Sagaing and inspected temporary latrines facilities built for displaced people at the 700th Anniversary Stadium. They also visited Kyaukta Village, where a mobile health clinic was providing primary healthcare services free of charge.
They also observed child-friendly spaces at Minlan Ward, supported the distribution of relief items in Poetann Ward, and checked drinking water distribution activities on Strand Road. During the visits, they coordinated to meet urgent needs based on on-the-ground assessments.
The delegation continued their trip to Mandalay, where they visited displaced victims in Bonoh Village, observed drinking water distribution efforts, inspected temporary shelters established near the former Chanmyathazi Airport rescue camp and visited child-friendly spaces near the Lawkamarazein Pagoda compound. They also coordinated support measures and addressed immediate needs in the area.
