THE Chinese ship MT Yu Dong carrying 17,000 tonnes of Octane 92 arrived at the Max Energy Terminal in Kyauktan Township, Thanlyin District, at 2:45 am on 7 May. This marks the 12th donation from the People’s Republic of China to support rehabilitation efforts following the major earthquake that struck Mandalay.

The handover ceremony for the 17,000 tonnes of Octane 92 took place yesterday morning. Attendees included Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, regional ministers, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Strategic Studies and Training Department, officials from the Ministry of Energy, representatives from the Myanma Port Authority, and officials from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement’s Disaster Management Department. Additionally, officials from the Thanlyin District Administration Body, the Kyauktan Township Administration Body, and other relevant personnel were present. The donation was officially handed over at Thilawa Port by Mr Ouyang Daobing, Economic Counsellor from the Chinese Embassy.

The Ministry of Energy will continue to transport the received Octane to earthquake-affected areas for use in rehabilitation efforts.
