SULTAN Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah of Brunei Darussalam on 7 May received the Ministerial representatives Responsible for Information from ASEAN Member States, Plus Three countries, the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community U San Lwin, who are currently in the country to attend the 17th Conference of ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information (AMRI).

After the meeting, the attendees posed for the group photos.

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn then received the Cambodian delegation led by Cambodian Information Minister Mr Neth Pheaktra and exchanged views on matters related to bilateral cooperation in the information and media sectors and the attendance of the Myanmar delegation to the Asia Media Summit to be held in Siem Reap, Cambodia, in 2025.

In the evening, the Union minister visited the new location of the Myanmar Embassy to Brunei, and Daw Khin Sandar, Chargé d’Affaires of the Myanmar Embassy, reported on the construction of the new embassy. Then, the Union minister proceeded to the Myanmar Embassy to Brunei together with the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community. He met with the staff and presented food and gifts to them.

Yesterday morning, the Union minister, together with delegates from various countries attending the 17th AMRI, participated in a study tour organized by Brunei. The programmes included a river cruise along the Brunei river, and observation to the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Bridge, Kampong Ayer (the Water Village), the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Jong Batu Rock Island, Mangrove Garden, the Brunei Water Park, the School of Culture and Handicrafts, and the Brunei Technology Museum.

The AMRI is held along with the AMRI+3 every two years, aiming to provide necessary guidance on enhancing mutual understanding and building trust among member countries through ASEAN and regional information activities.

Myanmar hosted the 12th AMRI in Nay Pyi Taw in 2014.
