Chairman of the State A d m i n i s t r a t i o n Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently in Moscow to attend the military parade to mark the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941- 1945 to be held in the Russian Federation, held a meeting with Mr Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at Ritz Carlton Hotel yesterday evening.

At the meeting, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan expressed his deep sorrow to the government and people of Myanmar for the losses and damage sustained due to the major earthquake that occurred in Mandalay, Myanmar. He said he also believes that, through joint efforts between the government and the people, recovery and reconstruction efforts will be carried out effectively and that the country will be able to overcome this difficult time.

In his response, the Senior General said that it has now been 25 years since diplomatic relations were established between Myanmar and Kazakhstan. The Ambassador of Myanmar to Kazakhstan has presented the letter of Credentials to His Excellency of Kazakhstan in April 2025.

In response to the major Mandalay earthquake that occurred in Myanmar, the Senior General highlighted that he deeply appreciated a letter of condolence sent by His Excellency of Kazakhstan expressing his sympathy for the loss of lives and property, and offering support for Myanmar. Myanmar, for its part, will continue to enhance cooperation with Kazakhstan.

The Senior General and the Kazakhstani President exchanged views on the promotion of bilateral cooperation measures. Also, present at the meeting were Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe and Myanmar Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan U Thit Linn Ohn. The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was accompanied by officials.
