State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defence General Maung Maung Aye in his capacity as Chairman of the Central Body for Summoning People’s Military Servants attended the 1/2025 coordination meeting of the central body in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

At the meeting, the General said that false information regarding the summoning of people’s military servants is circulating among the public, and the weaknesses of ward, village, township and district levels are being pointed out by the individuals as well as to the media. Most of them exaggerate to mislead the people and defame the summoning procedures based on a few pieces of true information.

Therefore, the relevant officials should take effective actions against those who commit destructive actions against the People’s Military Service Law, and there are also completed legal actions and ongoing actions. Similarly, it needs to uncover and take action against misinformation, propaganda and false reports.

Moreover, the responsible officials should supervise the ward, village and township administrators who make direct communication with people to ensure proper communication, curb financial fraud, and work following the procedures. The central body also reviews the applications for exemptions, reductions and postponement of military service. Every citizen must defend the country, and arrangements should be made for eligible individuals to serve for a designated period.

Moreover, the central body is implementing the National Service Information Management System (NSIMS) to achieve correct and accurate data.

Then, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) Lt-Gen Kyaw Swa Lin, members of the central body and Nay Pyi Taw, Region/State committees’ chairmen and officials reported on the matters related to the military training.

General Maung Maung Aye then concluded that the number of people eligible for military training should be compiled in advance and informed to the individuals. Only then will all accept the situation and can no one engage in unscrupulous actions.

The summoning of military servants is a long-term programme, so there must be systematic work procedures with good management systems. He stressed the need to summon the military servants correctly and systematically under the People’s Military Servant Law, rules and regulations, and not to summon them by force.
