Tatmadaw Naval Hospital Ships named Shwe Puzun and Saku continue providing healthcare services to locals in towns along the Ayeyawady River.
Specialist medical teams comprising specialists, doctors, and nurses from Tatmadaw established a temporary clinic at Dhamma Yadana Beikman of Aung Kyaikkhami Monastery in Htanee Village, Maubin Township, Maubin District, Ayeyawady Region, where they delivered healthcare services to 583 residents from the township and surrounding villages.
During the healthcare programme, the medical team provided necessary treatments to 164 patients with general medical conditions, 23 patients with surgical issues, 14 obstetrics and gynaecology patients, 19 paediatric patients, 141 orthopaedic patients, 53 ENT patients, 117 ophthalmology patients and 52 dental patients.
Surgical operations were successfully performed on 15 patients. Diagnostic services were also provided to eight patients through X-rays, 31 patients through television X-rays, 32 patients through ECG tests and 43 patients through laboratory examinations. Arrangements were made for seven patients requiring hospitalization to receive further treatment at nearby Tatmadaw hospitals.
Notably, Ma Thandar Htay who is the wife of U Aung Aung Oo from Kondaingkalay Village in Maubin Township successfully gave birth to a baby boy weighing 7 pounds and 3 ounces via caesarean section aboard the Shwe Puzun naval hospital ship at around 9:29 pm on 15 January.
Both the mother and child are in good health. Responsible officers presented gifts and cash assistance by the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) to the newborn baby and mother.
This newborn is the first baby delivered during this healthcare mission and marks the 29th successful delivery recorded in the history of the Shwe Puzun riverine hospital ship.
