THE Ministry of Information announced the debut of its fourth new TV channel on the MRTV DTH Platform (Direct to Home), called Myansat, at MRTV in Tatkon, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday.

First, the animation video for the launching ceremony of the Myansat DTH channel was played at the Auditorium Hall.

In his opening speech, the Union minister said the launching of a new DTH TV channel that brings pleasant feelings and positive encouragement is a meaningful event. The ministry makes efforts to offer information, knowledge and entertainment programmes for the public with any possible means, and also for the development of the media sector including Stateowned media and private media.

The MRTV DTH system was launched by the SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on 15 February 2022 marking the 76th Anniversary of MRTV. And, the fourth DTH system of Myanmar, Myansat DTH, was established at the ceremony bringing opportunities for the public to enjoy quality channels.

He then appreciated the launching of the Myansat DTH channel as it offers a variety of information and knowledge, serving as a bridge between innovative international technologies and the socioeconomic status of people.

Then, the CEO of Borderless Broadcast Co Ltd briefed the Myansat DTH Product and Myansat App, and the deputy CEO of Lao Asia Pacific Satellite Co Ltd made a congratulatory remark.

The Union minister, the Borderless Broadcast Co Ltd CEO and the Lao Asia Pacific Satellite Co Ltd deputy CEO inaugurated the Myansat DTH channel.

The Borderless Broadcast Co Ltd CEO gave commemorative gifts for the Myansat DTH launching to the Union minister, and 3,000 MRTV DTH appliances to the MRTV director-general.

The CEO also transferred authorization letters to three sales representatives for the distribution of Myansat DTH devices and gifts to the attendees.

Borderless Broadcast Co Ltd signed with MRTV on 5 November 2023 for the DTH system, broadcast the trial with the name of the Myansat DTH system on 15 August 2024, and launched it officially yesterday.

The Myansat DTH cooperates with the entertainment media to broadcast Myanmar’s cultural heritage, traditions and cultures, natural resources, local news and international entertainment programmes. It includes two packages – Myansat DTH Package 1 with 98 international channels and Package 2 with 176 channels. The people can enjoy eight channels: MRTV, MRTV HD, MRTV News, MRTV Parliament, MRTV NRC, MRTV Farmers’, MRTV Sport, MITV and Education Channel in addition to Fortune, Channel-K, 5-plus, YTV, Mahar, Maha Esports. Moreover, plans are underway to add other private channels and private channels. Arrangements are also made to create a Myansat Application to enjoy the Myansat DTH programmes on mobile phones.

The BBTV company will provide 10,000 new devices to develop the MRTV DTH Free To Air within three years, and it presented 3,000 devices at the event.

The BBTV company works with China Rocket Company Limited and Laosat Company Limited for the Multi Village Plan and Sky Star Class Room Plan of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) using Laosat 1 Satellite to raise knowledge of agriculture and livestock sector at border areas, develop the education for youths and reduce the poverty. It will donate Myansat DTH devices, TVs and solar batteries to a minimum of 42 villages and at to 100 villages within two years with the help of China AID.
