The delegation from Russia’s Buryatia Republic, led by Mr Alexey Sambuevich Tsydenov, visited notable landmarks in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The delegation began their visit at the National Museum, where they were greeted by Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Daw Nu Mra Zan and officials. They were particularly impressed by scale models of the famous Bagan pagodas, including Ananda, Thatbyinnyu, and Dhammayangyi, as well as the royal thrones and other artefacts on display. The visit concluded with the signing of the guest book and an exchange of gifts.

A luncheon was hosted by Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo in honour of the visiting delegation at the Aureum Palace Hotel. The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein, other Union ministers, and the Russian Ambassador to Myanmar.

The delegation then visited the Defence Services Museum in Zeyathiri Township, where they learned about the monachical era of Myanmar’s ancient kings and explored exhibits showcasing the country’s heritage. After their tour, they signed the guest book.

In the evening, the delegation attended the Tazaungdine Festival at Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw. The festival included a lighting ceremony and a hot-air balloon launch.
