Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla launched the ceremony to weave Mathoe Shwekya Thingan (pure unspoiled robes made of fabrics from lotus stocks) to be offered to Maravijaya Buddha Image for the second time.

The ceremony took place at the water fountain square in the precinct of Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory yesterday evening.

The Senior General and his wife cut the ribbon to open the robe-weaving ceremony for the second time.

Member of the Image Board of Trustees U Thant Swe launched the ceremony by beating a gong, and all looms started their weaving process to make the robes. At that time, artistes from the Myanma Radio and Television under the Ministry of Information, cultural troupes from the Fine Arts Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and artistes from the Myawady Band under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare performed dances with the song “Myaing-Myaing Hsaing-Hsaing Latazaungdine”. The attendees to the ceremony released hot-air balloons and lanterns.

Artistes from the MRTV, the Fine Arts Department and Myawady Band presented choral dances while other artistes performed songs.

The Senior General, his wife and audiences interestingly viewed round weaving of the robes at 15 looms from regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.

The Senior General, his wife and the audience enjoyed the release of hot-air balloons, together with pilgrims who visited the Tazaungdine lighting festival of the Maravijaya Buddha Image.

Also present at the ceremony were the SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister and his wife, the Secretary and his wife, the Joint Secretary and his wife, council members and their wives, Union-level dignitaries, Union ministers and their wives, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman and officials.

The Tazaungdine lighting festival was being held grandly at the Buddha Park of the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Dekkhinathiri Township from 13 to 15 November. During the period, religious associations were reciting Maha Pathana and religious verses, whereas fireworks were displayed in addition to the release of hot-air balloons. The lotus robes will be offered to the Buddha Image for the second time. The precinct of the Buddha Image is illuminated with LED bulbs. Moreover, the precinct is also occupied by shops that sell MSME products, foodstuffs, personal goods and traditional Myanmar snacks. People can enjoy the drama entertainment of the Fine Arts Department and the theatrical performance of the Po Chit theatrical troupe.
